M12 is a standard part when it comes to wiring sensors and actuators. The reason is obvious: A single connector is incapable of catering for so many demands. This is why Murrelektronik offers different solutions for different requirements: the M12 Standard for aggressive industrial applications, the clever MQ12 quick-connection system to reduce installation times, and the M12 Steel for applications in the food and beverage industry.
The M12 Standard from Murrelektronik is rugged and designed for tough applications in industrial environments. The knurled surface on the connector helps to fit it manually. If the sealing action is critical, the M12 torque wrench provides extra safety. After mounting the connecter by hand, the fitter can then tighten the connector to a specific torque without injuring his fingers. Once the recommended tightening torque is reached, the connector simply „clicks“. The audible click means that the seal is tight. It‘s hard to imagine a simpler and more reliable way to fit connectors.
Short installation times are vital in stores, materialshandling systems, assembly machines, and packaging machines. This is because there is a particularly high number of sensors fitted in plants and machines in this industry. Meanwhile, there are several quick-action locking systems. The MQ12 has a feature that makes it stand out from the rest: It is the only one that is suitable for standard sensors. The manufacturer need not modify the sensors. The Murrelektronik system is really simple to fit: Place the MQ12 on the sensor, turn the locking mechanism by a quarter turn - that‘s it! Time savings: about 80 percent. A visual mark shows that the connector is seated precisely. MQ12 is tight to IP67. It comes as connector or socket, straight or angled, with open lead ends, as connecting leads, or the connector can be terminated in the field.
In the food and beverage segment, the requirements governing connectors are specially high: Hygiene, cleanliness, and corrosion protection are vital. The indestructible M12 Steel from Murrelektronik offers a range of sensor connectors in V4A stainless steel grade. The M12 Steel meets the protection degrees of IP68 and IP69K. It is cleanable using acid-based and alkalinebased detergents, and is resistant against corrosion. The number of M12 Steel variants is enormous. There is a choice of connecting leads made of PVC or food-safe TPE-S plastic. The range includes sockets that can be terminated in the field, or with open lead ends, or connecting leads in lengths from 1.5 m to 50 m.
